As we approach the end of this current term, there are a few things we would like to bring to your attention. We try our very best to keep the costs down, especially during the cost of living crisis. Unfortunately, due to the increasing and various unforeseen costs on the pool and business we have been forced to increase the lesson fee to £12 per class. If there are any problems please do come and speak with me.
The cost for the next 14 week course is as follows:
The new term will run:
W/c Saturday 18th – Wednesday 22nd April to W/c Saturday 18th – Wednesday 22nd July.
We will run as usual through half term w/c Monday 25th May and the weekends on either side.
Please can we kindly ask you not to stay and watch outside of these dates. We have your child’s learning at heart.
During the Summer holidays we will be running a crash course from 10th – 14th August with an allocated time between 9.30am and 11.30am and a maximum of 5 pupils per class.
If this would be of interest to you please register your interest either at the desk or on the work phone 07305 285575.
Thank you so much to those who have participated in the ‘no shoe zone’ in the changing rooms and on poolside. Where possible please always use the shoe bench to reduce plastic waste.
We want to ensure a good level of cleanliness for all users, particularly for the vulnerable and disabled users. It is a charity funded pool and the entire cleaning is done by the Kingfisher staff. Please help us maintain this facility.
Jan has not only been a valued teacher at Kingfisher for over 30 years, teaching thousands of children an invaluable life skill, but has also worked directly alongside Anne working incredibly hard in the background to build the swimming school into the success that it is today.
Jan has also participated and contributed greatly to the charity and disabled users of this facility.
It is with great sadness to announce that Jan will be retiring at the end of this term to enjoy her time with her family and grandchildren. We are so grateful for all she has given to both the business and charity and wish her all the love and luck in her future.
Unfortunately, there have been several incidents in the changing rooms this term. I believe this mainly stems from not having enough room in the changing rooms, which in turn has created some tension amongst parents.
In an effort to reduce the amount of traffic in the changing rooms, lessons will have a 15 minute gap between the deep end and shallow end classes.
Parents should not be waiting in the changing room during their child’s lesson. Please remain considerate of belongings left in the changing rooms and ensure space is available for others.
At no point should parents be moving other people’s belongings, nor should there be any display of unacceptable or disrespectful behaviour towards others. Anti-social behaviour will result in expulsion from the swim school.
May we please remind you that the entire pool building is a no phone zone. During watching weeks (or if you are within the pool at any time), please ensure that if you need to use your phone you go outside of the pool building.
Phones should be kept out of sight within a pocket or bag. At no time should you video or take photos within the pool building. This complies with the child protection policy.
Over the next couple of weeks, all pupils will be working towards awards available within the level of their class.
If you wish to purchase certificates please go to the desk (after enrolment week) and we can order them for you. Certificates must be paid for in advance as we print them.
The cost of a badge and certificate is £4.
Many pupils have siblings whose lessons follow on from each other. Please do not leave your child unattended at the pool as it poses a distraction to other children and we cannot be responsible for your child whilst focusing on the lessons.
The last week of term is Fun Week, and your child may come along to any of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join midway between sessions.
We adhere to a maximum bather load of 35 pupils. When this is reached, any pupil that arrives after will be asked to wait until the next session (this doesn’t happen very often).
Please note that the earliest times tend to be the busiest.
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the staff to wish you all a lovely Easter break and we look forward to seeing you next term.
Best wishes
Phoebe
