NEWSLETTER - MARCH 2023
As we approach the end of this current term there are a few things I would like to bring to your attention. Firstly please note below the enrolment process for the next term.
RE-BOOKING FOR THE APRIL COURSE
Further to the message sent to you all, everyone this term will need to complete an enrolment form– all forms are at the desk. To try and alleviate the issues we have been having with parking and in response to your messages we will be reducing the numbers in the classes all over the timetable but more significantly during the first hour 4.20 – 5.20pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be also keeping to our fixed class limit of 9 in each of the stroke classes, 8 in Beginner 3 and 4 and 6 in Beginner 1 and 2. We realise that this will mean that the timetable set as it is will not be able to cater for everyone and on enrollment day we will look to see how we can possibly add in additional classes but these will probably be at the weekend. Please ensure all forms are completed and returned on the day the assessment form is received. A copy of the new timetable is available either on the website, notice board or at the desk. All assessment forms will be handed out at the beginning of each lesson. Anyone who cannot return the form on the day should email to the address noted above or text on 07305 285575 with the 3 preferred options. The enrolment options MUST reach me before Friday 17th March @ 9am.
PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you time to make payment. ANY PAYMENTS NOT RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF THE TERM – WEDNESDAY MARCH 29TH WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS LISTS WITH NO FURTHER CONTACT.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements. Those who have 3 pupils swimming with us and receive the 15% discount and who wish to stagger payments should make total payment for one child before the end of the current term. Fees should be paid for by either BACS or cash.
TERM DATES
The next course will start from Saturday 22nd – Wednesday 26th April and run for the following 13 weeks with the last date of the course being Sunday 16th July – Saturday 22nd July.
We will not be running lessons on the Saturday of the Kings coronation May 6th – this will be made up on Saturday 22nd July. We will run lessons on all the Monday bank holidays held during the term (1st, 8th and 29th of May). We will run lessons as usual through the half term Monday 29th – Friday 2nd June and each weekend either side of that week.
NEXT TERMS COSTS
The cost for the next 13 week course is a total of £132.60.
Those customers with 3 children will receive the 15% discount making the cost 3 x £132.60 = £397.80 – 15% (£59.67) = £338.13
PARKING
In an effort to give a little more space in the parking area directly outside the pool, the swimming staff are now parking at the back of the playground and will place a notice in their windows 'Staff Parking'. You may park directly in front of these cars as all staff will be at the pool until the swim school closes. We hope this assists a little.
SWIMMING HATS
Please ensure that if your child is moving to a Beginner 4 class that they change the colour of their hat from a blue to a black. All pupils should wear either a blue hat (for those in the shallow end of the pool) or black hat (for those in the deeper end of the pool). All other colours are not acceptable. This is for the safety of your children so we can immediately identify what end of the pool all pupils are due to swim in.
A note from the instructors – could you ensure that your child comes to poolside with their hats and goggles in place.
Unfortunately we will no longer be able to accommodate the purchase of hats after the first week of term via bank transfer. All hats purchased after the first week of term can only be paid for by cash.
APPROPRIATE SWIMWEAR FOR LESSONS
Can we respectfully request that all girls wear a 1-piece costume with straps on the shoulders (no off the shoulder costumes) and no long shorts or T-shirts. Boys should wear fitted shorts or swimming trunks. No long shorts or T-shirts. We understand that for cultural reasons some girls may wear swimwear with more coverage this is of course acceptable. If your child wishes to wear a T-shirt for any other reasons, please do speak to us.
When your child is learning to swim any excess material creates drag in the water and trying to learn to swim or master a stroke is a lot more difficult when excess drag is present. We appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
SCHOOL GROUNDS / NO SMOKING
Please ensure that apart from the playground area no children wander around any other part of the school grounds.
Can we also respectfully once more remind you that the school grounds are a strict NO SMOKING area. Smoking in the grounds puts the swim school in jeopardy of being closed down.
BADGES AND CERTIFICATES
Over the next couple of weeks all pupils will be working towards the badges and certificates available at the level of their class. If you wish to purchase any certificates then please go to the desk where we can order them for you. Certificates do have to be paid for in advance as we print them. The cost of a Badge and Certificate is £3.50.
WATCHING WEEKS NEXT TERM
The watching weeks next term will be as follows:
First watching week for both ends of the pool Sunday 14th May – Saturday 20th May
Second watching week for both ends of the pool Sunday 11th June – Saturday 17th June
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn’t happen very often!).
PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 25th March, First session 9.00am - Last session 10.30am
Sunday 26th March, First session 9.00am - Last session 9.30am
Monday 27th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 28th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Wednesday 29th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
We wish you all a lovely Easter break and look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
